GLA:D® is an evidence-based education and exercise program designed for people with hip or knee osteoarthritis. Developed in Denmark and backed by international research, it helps reduce symptoms, improve function, and support long-term joint health – so you can stay active and keep doing the things you love.
Most people with hip or knee osteoarthritis symptoms are eligible to join the GLA:D program—regardless of age, severity, or X-ray results. You don’t need a referral to get started, and if you’re eligible, Medicare rebates may be available to help cover the cost. If your joint pain stems from another condition, we’ll help you figure out if GLA:D is the right fit.
Step 1
Start with a one-on-one session where we assess your baseline strength and mobility, explain how the program works, and personalise it to your needs.
Step 2
2x 60-90 minute educational sessions led by our physiotherapists, where you’ll learn how osteoarthritis affects the joints and what you can do to reduce pain and improve stability in day-to-day life.
Step 3
Join small group sessions twice a week for six weeks. These are guided by GLA:D-certified physiotherapists and focus on movement retraining and building strength around the hips and knees.
Step 4
Three months after completing the program, you’ll return for a check-in to see how your progress is tracking and how you’re managing symptoms on your own.

Josh and Jordan run our GLA:D program at our Applecross clinic, using the latest research to guide treatment and long-term management of osteoarthritis. With multiple class times each week, they’ll help you build strength, improve movement, and take control of your symptoms. They’re passionate about helping people move better for longer, and can’t wait to support you along your health journey.
