[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2109″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Those of you who know Belinda (owner and director of Enhance Physiotherapy) will know that she is pretty crazy about dogs. Losing Shae early in 2017 was devastating for Bel and it was the lovely Mila who provided some much needed comfort following this loss. Mila is an American Bulldog/American Staffy and she is 4 (human) years old. She’s carrying 35 kgs on a relatively short frame so her joints and muscles are under pressure, particularly when she runs and jumps (which lets face it, is exactly what dogs love to do!)[/vc_column_text][vc_images_carousel images=”2173,2174,2175″ img_size=”medium” autoplay=”yes” wrap=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A couple of weeks ago, Mila starting limping on her back leg. Although an expert on the human body, Bel doesn’t claim to be an animal physiotherapist so she decided to call in an expert. She found Jeannine from www.unleashedmuscles.com. Jeannine specialises in muscular re-alignment and body balancing in animals (check out her website for more details). Jeannine came to treat Mila and it was quite amazing to see how calm Mila was with Jeannine and throughout the treatment session. The treatment was hands on and involved gentle massage and manipulation of Mila’s joints and muscles. Mila appeared to enjoy it thoroughly! It was interesting to note the reflexive muscle spasm occurring with Jeannine’s spinal technique (seen in the video below). Mila will also be doing some hydrotherapy to facilitate her recover and overall health and wellbeing!
Dogs suffer from pain and injury, just as people do, and can benefit from hands on therapy and hydrotherapy to maximise musculoskeletal health (just as people can!). Keeping Mila in tip top shape means she can live her best life!
