Preventative Therapy

Your risk of many sporting injuries can be significantly reduced by doing a few simple exercises during pre-season.

Muscle tears, ankle sprains, shoulder dislocations/subluxations as well as overuse conditions such as tennis/golfer’s elbow, shin splints and osteitis pubis can all be managed using preventative therapy.

Our Physiotherapists will show you how you can reduce your risk of suffering any such injuries. If you have had any previous injury which has not been rehabilitated properly, you will be at increased risk of a re-injury and should consider preventative therapy.

Rehabilitation

Following a musculoskeletal injury, it is important to rehabilitate the joints and muscles appropriately to minimise the risk of re-injury. Following an injury, muscles local to the area will become weak or inactive.

The muscles affected most are often your synergistic muscles – the ones responsible for stability and control of joint movement. Your physiotherapist will be able to guide you through your rehabilitation and advise you on which types of exercises will be most appropriate to reduce your risk of re-injury.
